Introduction

At SwiftTrans, we prioritize your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our macOS application.

Data Collection and Usage

SwiftTrans is designed to be privacy-first. We do not collect personal information directly. Your translation history and settings are stored locally on your device.

Billing and Purchase Data

Billing is processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. We do not directly collect your bank card details or other payment credentials.

  • Version 1.0.0 (historical plan): SwiftTrans offered monthly and annual Pro subscriptions.
  • Version 2.0.0 (current plan): SwiftTrans offers monthly Pro subscription and Lifetime Pro one-time purchase. New annual subscriptions are no longer available.
  • Annual subscription transition: Users with an active annual subscription when version 2.0.0 was released keep access until the current annual period ends. The annual subscription then expires and does not renew.
  • Free migration offer: Eligible users in this transition group are offered a free migration to Lifetime Pro for the same Apple ID account.
  • To activate and maintain your entitlement, SwiftTrans may process limited purchase status data provided by Apple (for example, active subscription status or lifetime entitlement status).

Translation Services

To provide translation functionality, text you submit is processed by the translation provider you select:

  • Apple Translation (Offline): On macOS 15 and later, translations are processed entirely on your device using Apple's Translation framework. No text is sent to any external server.
  • Google Translate: Text is sent to Google's translation API. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Bing Translator: Text is sent to Microsoft's Bing Translator service. Please refer to Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
  • OpenAI / Custom APIs: If you configure OpenAI or other API endpoints, data is sent to those services according to your configuration. Please refer to the privacy policy of the respective API provider (e.g., OpenAI Privacy Policy).

SwiftTrans does not store your submitted text on any external servers other than the necessary transmission to these third-party providers for the purpose of translation.

Local Storage

  • Translation History: Stored locally on your Mac. You can clear this history at any time within the app settings.
  • API Keys: If you provide your own API keys (e.g., for OpenAI), they are stored securely in your macOS Keychain.
  • Preferences: App settings (theme, language, etc.) are stored in standard macOS User Defaults.

Crash Reporting

We may collect anonymous crash logs to help us improve the application stability. These logs do not contain personal user data or translation content.
